ReplyDeleteMy dad had a rare cancer that they recommended radiation for. His body responded to the treatment and the tumor dissipated. By that time, we didn't know it spread to the lungs so a month later, his lungs collapsed and he was re admitted to the hospital. They then said they need to do chemo. My dad was a scientist researcher so he was hesitant. Unfortunately, he felt like there was no other option, so he decided to do the first session of chemo before being discharged from the hospital. Only one week he spent at home before being rushed back to the ER. One week. They urged a second session of chemo. He cried and said he didn't want it, but he eventually said ok fine. And a week after that, his body gave up and he lost the battle to cancer. To this day, I blame it on the chemo. His cancer progressed so fast after the two sessions. It was only a few months ago and it hasn't stopped bothering me that it could have been the chemo that did this. I hope and will pray for your speedy recovery whatever you choose. Fight the fight. ReplyDeleteUnfortunately at this time there are no good answers to cancer treatment. There is no silver bullet and many people lose the battle the no matter what treatment they pursue. I would very wary of ANYONE claiming they have an effective cancer treatment or cure, because none exist.
ReplyDeleteI agree JR. I had a rare squamous cell carcinoma of the nasal septum. Only 6 cases in the world at that time, 12 yrs ago. I had surgery, rads and chemo and I am cured. THere are some really dangerous comments on this site about being cured, and the remedies. One even referred to a witch doctor or something similar. Herbs DO NOT cure cancer PLAIN AND SIMPLE. So stop with the BS and ignorant, ill informed and dangerous cures please.

I'm a two-time cancer survivor (breast & ovarian) and feel really blessed to have survived. I am fortunate to have an oncologist I trust to truly have my best interest at heart. I was initially slated to go through 3 vs. the full 6 rounds of chemo. After 3 rounds, we were expecting my CA125 to decrease to "normal". Unfortunately, it was still high at 325. In addition, liquid had gathered outside my right lung, a suspicious mass of tissue was found in my abdomen and enlarged nodes were found in my lungs and under both my armpits. My oncologist strongly recommended that I continue my chemo treatment to complete the full 6 rounds. I did and am glad I did. I'm now in full remission and thriving.
ReplyDeleteI have interviewed 19 cancer survivors for a book I'm writing and all but 2 have had chemo. The side effects are interesting as well as the ways each experienced life during treatment and even after treatment. NOTE: Most had stage 3 and 4 cancers.
Like J.R. Campbell (previous comment), I caution anyone claiming they have an effective cancer cure. For me and my fellow survivor brothers & sisters who I interviewed, we believe it best to look into ALL options to be able to make an informed decision and to check on the background (including references) of the treating doctors.
Also, aside from treatment, it's critical to eat right, avoiding foods & drinks (esp. sugar, processed foods, etc.) that will decrease your chances of recovery.
Yes, those of us who went through chemo had our struggles. However, it was temporary experience that's passed and we are now alive and thriving, thanks to our chemo treatment! BTW: If there were a better cancer treatment that's been scientifically and officially proven to be more effective than chemo, we'd of course take it.

I was told I had cancer two days before my 30th birthday last year 2016 I pointed the lump out to a dr in Oct. 2014 and the dr sent me to inland imaging for further imaging and was told it was nothing maybe a rib so now here I have stage 4 breast cancer that has spread to about every bone from knees up. I have 3 babies and I'm all they have all boys 2,4 and 7 years old.I no that what you eat every day and feed your kids like cereal has stuff that if you were to go get a box of it says warning if swallowed call poison control but yet it's in a cereal the packaging that is used to hold cereal has a cancer causing agent in it BHT. I think natural foods and roots would help more then killing the immune system I was told today I don't know how true it is that the United States is the only country that does not allow natural cures and Clinic cuz it's all about the money that is sad They Don't Care About Us
