Curcumin and Omega 3 for Pancreatic Cancer

Curcumin + Omega-3 Kill 70% of Pancreatic Cancer Cells: Researchers have discovered that curcumin synergizes with omega-3 fatty acids (fish oil) in suppressingpancreatic cancer. When mice were fed fish oil alone, their pancreatic tumours shrank by 25%. When they were fed curcumin alone, the tumors shrank by 43%. But when fed fish oil and curcumin together, their tumours shrank by an amazing 72%. This was accompanied by a six-fold increase in cancer cell death (apoptosis) compared to either treatment alone. Could this work for people? One recent study out of the USA showed that people getting the most fish oil (>850 mg daily of EPA+DHA) reduced their risk of pancreatic cancer by a stunning 60%. As for curcumin, it’s already been used in four clinical trials on pancreatic cancer, with several more ongoing. In one trial using 8 grams daily of curcumin, one patient saw a dramatic, although temporary, shrinkage of their tumor by 73%. Curcumin is one of the most studied natural medicines for cancer, with ongoing clinical trials on prostate, breast, and colon cancers, and osteosarcoma. However, curcumin is poorly absorbed, so new “enhanced absorption” forms are being studied. In the meantime, “next generation” supplements (C3) may enhance absorption by 700%, and could be a good option for lowering cancer risk in addition to a healthy, balanced diet.
